Say Cheese Girls!

Let me start by saying, I would much rather have natural pictures, than posed ones. They are just...more natural! Anyway, I never seem to get good natural pictures, so the majority of mine are posed. For example, the picture above.

I waited at the bottom of the slide trying to get a picture of smiling faces, air blowing their hair back, and sheer delight. Instead, they ran into each other on the way down, and were not even in the mood to smile for a posed picture. Little rotten girls! (Amanda, I know you are feeling me on this subject!)

I actually think the picture is quite funny, however, and was able to get a couple of pictures later, more to my liking. If you have any tips on picture taking, please comment!

Can I just say that their faces in the first picture says it ALL!!! I was so cracking up and feeling for you all at the same time! One of these days those pics are going to come back to haunt them!!! Stinkers!!!

I have never seen them BOTH look so "not smiley" at once! What an Egdginton tragedy. Cute pics. Maybe they were frowning because they know they will get sick at the Mc D's playland! ;)

It must be hard when your child is a little cheese queen! That's how Emily was (and I bet Dara was too) and it was great, but Abby never was up for posing so we got way more natural pics.

Tips? I don't know. Sneak up on her? Photograph her asleep? Snap pics every waking moment in the hope that she'll get tired of posing (wait, I bet that wouldn't work!).

I love that first one. Maybe your only hope is to make her mad and then take her picture.

That picture is sooo funny! They both have the EXACT same expression!
- Snap, snap, snap. Taking good pictures is not terribly hard I think that key is that you just have to snap a lot. Digital pictures are so freeing because you can take a ton of pictures and just delete the aweful ones and it won't cost you a thing.
- Go natural. I always think taking pictures outside in natural lighting makes my pictures look a lot better (I think I read somewhere that around 9:00 in the morning on a sunny day is suppost to be the best time becuase it's bright enough but doesn't have to many shadows like 12:00 would).
- Edit. Another good thing about digital photagraphy is you can edit the photo on your computer. The other two pics you have are very cute but they could be cropped a bit so people are looking more at the subject and not the stuff in the background that doesn't matter. Playing around with sepia and black & white is fun too and it can add a more professional look.
There's my two cents. :) Now as far as getting the kiddos to actually smile at the right time? You got me! Good luck!

Thanks for the laugh! I totally understand your struggle. My natural photos never turn out either. Somehow James always gets them perfectly.

We are all doing fine. This week the kids have been struggling with colds.

You could have the Wednesday night kids pray for my kids as they get lots of shots (extra immunizations) before we can go to Brazil. We are also working on our passports and gathering info for our visas. We almost have everything we need. Pray for Hannah to stop sucking her fingers. I think it makes her get sick more often.

Thanks for keeping in touch. Hope Upward is going well.

I love that first picture! I don't think I've ever seen Maddie not smiling before.

If I could add a caption to the first picture, it would be this:

The girls are sad because of the wreaking odor of the McDonald's Play Place.

Does anyone else think the whole Gilbert St. McDonald's smells like dirty socks and sweaty kids? (Mandy and Amanda: Your girls are the exception, of course.) I like the high tables and stools near the soda fountain/condiments, though. ;)
